Continued Commitment to Research, Publication

The Ethiopian Society of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (ESOG) has promoted the culture of conducting and publishing researches through the presence of its organ- The Ethiopian Journal of Reproductive Health (EJRH) at biggest health and trade event. The event headlined- Ethio-Health Exhibition and Congress was underway at Millennium Hall on May 17-19, 2019.

Taking part of on the exhibition, EJRH was visited by hundreds of visitors both from the health and trade sectors. The event also was an opportunity to meet health equipment manufacturers and importers.

EJRH has been promoting itself and the culture of conducting and publishing researches on many other occasions: the annual conferences of the Ethiopian Public Health Association (EPHA) and the Ethiopian Midwives Association (EMWA). The Journal has also been giving manuscript writing trainings for junior faculty members as part of its continued effort to promote the culture of conducting and publishing researches.

Launched more than 10 years ago, EJRH has served the RH community as one of the best vehicles for evidence-based learning. Going through a series of changes, now the publication reaches out to thousands of health professionals both online and in print.

Catchment Based Clinical Mentorship Project Launched

The Ethiopian Society of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (ESOG) has been conducting icebreaking workshops for catchment based clinical mentorship pilot project in different towns in the Amhara and Oromia regions. The workshops have been conducted in Ambo, Assela, Debrebirhan, and Woldia beginning May 6, 2019.

The goal of the mentorship program is to improve the quality of RMNCH services through skill and knowledge transfer that will ultimately lead to a decrease in maternal, newborn and child morbidity and mortality.

The project aims to involve 2 zones: 2 referral and 6 primary hospitals in each of the regions: Amhara and Oromia. Supported by the Federal Ministry of Health (FMoH) and in collaboration with the regional health bureaus, the project envisions to benefit a total of 650 health workers, who are the direct beneficiaries, and indirect beneficiaries of more than 250, 000 women of reproductive age groups.

Officially launched on March 1, 2019, the project will run through June 30, 2019.
