ESOG Participates in the Integrated RMNCH+PPFP Scale-Up in High Caseload Facilities National Event
The Ethiopian Society of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (ESOG) took part in a high-level national project launch on Integrated RMNCH+PPFP Scale-Up in High Caseload Facilities, held on May 27, 2025, at the Haile Grand Hotel, Addis Ababa. The event, organized by Engender Health, brought together government officials, project partners, implementing organizations, and key stakeholders to celebrate progress and map out future action for integrated reproductive, maternal, newborn, child health (RMNCH), and postpartum family planning (PPFP) initiatives.
The day opened with a session titled “Opening Doors, Igniting Connections,” followed by a powerful address from Jemal Kassaw, Country Representative of Engender Health, setting the tone for impact and collaboration.
A visionary message from the Gates Foundation underscored the global support for Ethiopia’s RMNCH+PPFP scale-up efforts. This was followed by the official opening address delivered by H.E. Dr. Dereje Duguma, State Minister at the Ministry of Health.
A notable highlight was the presentation of project insights by Dr. Siyoum Enkubahri, Project Director for the Integrated RMNCH+PPFP scale-up, followed by a thought-provoking panel titled “Power Moves: Partners Engagement and Sustainability Plans,” featuring Ato Fekadu Mazengia (Executive Director of Ethiopian Midwives Association (EMWA), Dr. Meseret Ansa (Executive Committee Member, ESOG), and Prof. Bogale Worku (Executive Director of Ethiopian Pediatrics Society (EPS)). The session discussed how professional societies, including ESOG, are contributing to sustainability through leadership, capacity building, and technical support.
Other inspiring sessions included stories shared by a youth group, audience-led reflections, and signing ceremonies by representatives from the Ministry of Health, ESOG, EMwA, EPS, and Regional Health Bureaus.
The closing address was delivered by Dr. Alemayehu Hunduma, Head of RH, FP and AYH Programs at the Ministry of Health.
As always, ESOG remains committed to strengthening partnerships that drive better reproductive and maternal health outcomes for Ethiopia.
