Two teams representing Ethiopian Society of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (ESOG) and the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (ACOG) met with the Ethiopian Minister of Health, H.E. Professor Yifru Birhan on Tuesday, June 5, 2017. The meeting, which was conducted at the Minister’s office, aimed at briefing the Minster on the progress of the ESOG-ACOG Collaborative Project.

The ESOG-ACOG collaborative project was launched in June, 2016 with the objective of addressing four thematic areas: Resident Ship, CME, Journal and Examination Certification and Accreditation. The thematic areas to be addressed by the collaborative project later added three more areas to its list: E-learning and Resource Center, PR & Communication and Leadership Development. The issue of medical ethics was added later as yet another focus area of the project.

Dr. Dereje Negussie, president of ESOG, Dr. Balkachew Nigatu, vice president of ESOG represented the ESOG side while ACOG was represented by Dr. Peter Shwartz, Dr. Rebecca McAlister and Dr. Diana Lauren. Also present was Dr. Birhanu Tadesse, lube between the two teams for the collaborative project.
