The Ethiopian Society of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (ESOG) conducted the 2nd manuscript writing training at Jupiter Hotel, Addis Ababa on April 22-24, 2019. The training, which was administered under the Ethiopian Journal of Reproductive Health (EJRH), the scientific publication of ESOG, aimed at promoting the culture of conducting and publishing researches among the Reproductive Health (RH) community.

Attending the training were 25 participants: junior gynecology faculty members, and RH professionals working in various institutions in Addis Ababa, Hawassa, Adama, Bahir Dar, Mekele, Arbaminch and others. Participants were selected on the basis that they have conducted but have not published researches.

The training was given by senior academicians and researchers: Dr. Ahmed Abdella, Editor-in-Chief of EJRH. Dr. Mirgisa Kaba, member of the editorial board of EJRH and Editor-in-Chief of the Ethiopian Journal of Health Development (EJHD), Dr. Girma Sitotaw, a senior bio statistician and member of the editorial board of EJHD, and Dr. Mekdes Daba, editorial board member of EJRH and H. Secretary for the Executive Board of ESOG.    

EJRH has been under going a serious of changes for the last 12 months. With the financial support from the Center for International Reproductive Health Training (CIRHT), the Journal has launched it official website, started publishing four volumes a year and has been highly engaged in promoting the culture of conducting and publishing researches, among other changes.

The changes the journal has been undergoing are not without results: submission rates have been increasing and manuscripts have been received from abroad, from Kenya and Uganda, for the first time in EJRH’s more than a decade history. The Journal is also finalizing recognitions by the Addis Ababa University and closing on its membership at African Journals Online.
